Meet the Founder
With over 4,000 hours of professional research experience, Brett Holbert Lasay holds a Family History Certificate from Brigham Young University-Idaho and is a proud member of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG).
His dedication to his profession has helped families and individuals overcome long-standing “brick walls” in their genealogical research.

In addition to his genealogical expertise, Brett reads Spanish, Latin, Middle English, Tagalog, Cebuano, Chavacano de Zamboanga, Bikolano, and Samarnon — further enriching his ability to access and analyze historical records from different regions and eras.
Brett is also an accomplished speaker and educator in the Filipino genealogy field. He has already spoken at RootsTech, the world’s largest genealogy conference, on the topic, “Breaking the 1849 Barrier: Searching for Filipino Ancestors Beyond the Claveria Decree.” He has taught classes on Introduction to Genetic Genealogy Research and the Genealogical Proof Standard (GPS), introducing others to advanced genealogical research techniques.
Brett’s research spans across the Philippines, the U.S., and internationally, including countries such as Spain, Canada, France, Germany, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.
To meet the growing demand for genealogical services, Brett is now building a dedicated team of professional genealogists from across the Philippines. This expansion allows Stonebox Genealogy to better serve clients from diverse regions and provide comprehensive, in-depth research across various localities while adhering to the Genealogical Proof Standard (GPS).
